In what was a mixed up season, I worked consistently throughout to improve my times and race craft. Mansell is my favourite track with a mix of high speed and technical sections. Ultimately over the five rounds of the season, I worked my way up to second overall and came close to my first race win in the last two rounds. Excited to be the Mansell Kart Racing Club Vice Champion in my first full season in karting. Looking forward to next year!
At Clay Pigeon Raceway, I competed in the 2022 season, coming fourth overall in my first full season at this track. From the first round which was cancelled due to wet and windy conditions through to the hottest conditions ever in the UK through the summer. As well as changing tyre regulations half way through the season and having to learn tyres I had never raced on before. I was happy to come fourth overall in the Clay Pigeon Kart Club 2022 championship.
In a defining moment at the recent British Kart Championship at Warden Law, I claimed my first-ever pole position in the repechage and turned it into a landmark victory. Dominating every lap with precision and control, I crossed the finish line for a monumental win.
This triumph isn't just about a single race; it's a turning point in my karting journey. As exhilarating as this win is, it fuels my ambition for the challenges that lie ahead. I'm set on pushing the boundaries even further in this incredible sport.
A win to remember, and a sign of more to come.
Starting with the promise of a 4th place qualification, the pre-final had its twists and turns. An unfortunate nudge at the first corner saw me at the back. But that's where the real race began.
From the back to 9th with pure grit, determination, and the fastest lap of the race, I clawed back every inch. The final was a true test of patience, strategy, and perfect timing. A surge from 9th, picking off competitors, and with a final lap that can only be described as electric, I snatched 2nd place right at the finish line!
In the final round of the Mansell Kart Racing Club 2022 Championship, I qualified on pole, finished the first heat in third and the pre-final in second. In the final, there was an intense set of battles and I finished second overall. I was happy with my results, and this resulted in me finishing in second in the championship.
I raced at Clay Pigeon Raceway at the start of April in the Southwest Challenge, round 1. On Friday I had practiced on Maxxis tyres, which were new to me to learn how they behave and how to drive on it. The whole day was glorious sunshine and I qualified in third. In heat 1, I came in fourth and in the pre-final and final I came in third. We worked together as a team to finish a second behind the winner, I managed to hold off my team mate in fourth place. I was so proud of this podium. I also improved my PB by 0.5s (0.2s off the track recrord) on tyres that are usually 0.5s slower, so very happy with my improvement.
At the end of April, I raced at Mansell Raceway in Devon in Round 3 of the Mansell Kart Club Championship. In heat one I finished first, in heat two and three I finished in second and in the final I finished second overall. I made a lot of improvements, improving my personal best by 4 tenths and was fastest in every round. In the final I made a small mistake on the opening lap and dropped to the back, but worked my way back up to second. I was battling some much more experienced drivers so I need to improve my racecraft to be able to overtake these drivers.
At the end of March, I was racing at Mansell Raceway in Devon at Round 2 of the Mansell Kart Club Championship. I was able to compete and race near the front of the field, finishing heat one in second, heats two and three in third and finished the final in third position overall. Happy with those results and improved my personal best.
I competed in round 6 of the Mansell Raceway championships. Weather played a big part in the strategy with half of the grid in the first session on wets and half on slicks. We went with wets which proved to be the right decision. However, we had mechanical issues all weekend which ultimately meant I dropped back in most races and was 1.8s off my previous best. I won my fourth novice trophy and completed my Novice licence which means I can now compete in my assigned grid position.
2 COUNTIES CHAMPS - Mansell Raceway - 26 September 2021
Best Novice
I competed in the 2 counties championships at Mansell Raceway. It was a mixed weekend with delays, fog, rain and sun on Saturday. On Sunday I was able to consistently move up three to five places during the sessions, in the second session I was punted off after gaining five places. I was able to improve my lap times and practicing my overtaking. In the race, I had issues with my kart handling, but was still able to overtake others and move up to tenth overall. I won my third novice trophy.
I competed for the first time at Clay Pigeon Raceway - I love this track, it is so fun to drive. I was able to consistently move up the order in each session, improving my lap times and practicing my overtaking. In the race, despite a spin on the first corner, I was able to catch back up and overtake 3 cars to finish 11th.
South-west championship (Round 5) - 29 August 2021
Best novice
I competed in the South West Championship for my first time at Mansell Raceway. This was a Novice race for me. I love the track, it is a technical circuit and really tests my ability to spot the braking points. It was also my first race in Mini Max. I was able to consistently climb the order and finished 11th. I was awarded the Best Novice trophy combined between Juniors and Mini Max.
